Call for decrim and border abolition

I hope you’re enjoying my project! Now that you’ve learnt about some really amazing sex workers and how they’ve contributed to fashion, I want you to listen to what current, actual sex workers need.

Whether you like their line of work or not, sex workers need to be as safe as possible. This doesn’t happen if we try to criminalize their job or their clients – as a matter of fact, the so-called «Nordic Model» has time and time again proven to have augmented violence against sex workers, often being used to deport immigrants and separate mothers from their children.

Sex Workers are organising all over the world to ask not only for the decriminalization of their trade (something that UNAIDS, public health experts, and other human rights organizations all agree with) but also for the abolition of borders. The existence of borders is quoted as one of the main reason for human trafficking in «Revolting Prostitutes: The Fight for Sex Workers Rights», written by Juno Mac and Molly Smith, sex workers and researchers. But decriminalization is also a matter of racial justice. Here’s a list of wonderful reads if you want to take a deeper look at the matter.
